BABY BUGGYCAKE
NEEDED: One- 12-inch cake and Two- 6-inch 1-layer cakes (2 1/2 mixes total)
Foil-covered
19 x 14-inch cardboard - NOTE: If you use the handle in the back of the
buggy, you might rather use a 24 x 17 inch cardboard.
Tips 1, 5, 8, 16, 18, 21, 48, 104, 352
COLORS:Pink, blue and white icing for decorations.
CAKES: One 12-inch layer and two 8-inch layers
DIRECTIONS: Choose whatever colors you prefer. Pink, blue and yellow do nicely.
1. Place the 12-inch cake on the cardboard.
2. Cut a wedge from the front of the buggy and place some of the wedge at the back of the buggy for a handle.
3.
Ice the top part of the buggy and handle as usual (Thin the icing down
when icing cut-cake-handle). Crumb-coat the bottom part of 12-inch. OR -
use cake icer tip - easier/faster.
4. Set the 6-inch cake wheels in place and ice them smooth.
5. Basketweave the buggy, tip 48 horizontal and tip 7 vertical.
6. Mark lines on the 6-inch and the top of the buggy.
7. Pipe tip 1 cornelli lace on top part of buggy
8. Pipe tip 104 ruffles as shown. Add tip 16 shells at tops of ruffles.
9. Pipe tip 21 shell bottom border around 12-inch cake.
10. Pipe tip 8 balls over wheel and buggy-top marked lines.
11. Pipe tip 18 reverse shell borders on handle and around wheels top and bottom.
12. Pipe tip 104 roses to the center of each wheel and top . Add tip 352 green leaves.
NOTE: This cake can be placed on a 100-serving sheet cake if more servings are wanted.
BABY BLOCK CAKE
Place blocks on doubled -16” cake circles. 8x11” sheet cake. You can vary the decorating in many different ways. Or, personalize it with on the side of 8-inch cake.
NEEDED:
(1) 8x11 (1-mix)
(1) 2-layer 8-inch cake (1-mix)
CAKES:
Place the 8”cake on a foil-covered 8”cardboard circle.
Top baby ornament
Pastel food Colors: Soft pink, blue green and yellow
(2) 16” cardboard circles covered-as-one with pretty colored foil
Small plastic or edible rattles, booties, etc. for sides of blocks
6 Icing roses
Drop flowers in pastel colors
DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut the 8x11-inch sheet cake into 12 sections - for (6) 2-layer block-shapes (Fig 1).
2. Using tip 18 pastel icing color of choice,
hold each block in your hand and zig zag ice, tip 18 up-down motion -
(Fig 3). Set blocks in place on the 16” cardboard (Fig 2).
3. Ice the 8” cake in a pastel color.
Press (using a 8” cake circle) and mark the area where the 8” cake will be placed on the blocks.
Cut straws the same height as the blocks, (minus icing) and place one upright, 1-inch from outer mark, into each block.
PLEASE NOTE: Straws should all be the very same height, even if cakes aren’t.
4. Cut a circle of plastic-wrap and place over the 8” marked circle on top of the blocks.
(This will prevent the icing pulling off the blocks when you disassemble cake to serve).
5. Pipe baby items on
sides of the blocks, tip 6. Add a rose on top of each block. Pipe tip 4
“ABC” or glue candies on with icing. Add tiny drop flowers around the
“ABC.” Add tip 18 top and bottom white borders.
